Christian Smolle specializes in experimental surgery, plastic and reconstructive surgery, and patient safety, in accordance with the Statistic Austria science classification. He completed primary and secondary education at Sacre Coeur Graz from 1998 to 2010, followed by civilian service at the State Hospital Graz in the Department of Surgery (2010â2011). In the same year, Dr. Christian Smolle began medical studies at the Medical University of Graz.
Throughout the course of medical training, Dr. Smolle held various academic and clinical roles. In 2014, he worked as a research co-worker in the Division of Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Medical University of Graz. In 2016, he completed a clinical elective at the Burn Centre of the Department for Plastic and Maxillofacial Surgery at Uppsala University Hospital in Sweden, while also serving as a tutor at the Institute of Pathophysiology at the Medical University of Graz.
Christian Smolle has been recognized with numerous awards, including:
- Presentation Award of the Austrian Society for Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery (2022),
- Poster Award of the same Society (2018),
- Suprathel Nachwuchs Challenge by PolyMedics Innovations (2017),
- Thesis Award by the Scientific Society of Physicians in Styria (2016),
- 2nd Prize from the Episcopal Office for Education of the Diocese of Graz-Seckau for a religious studies thesis (2010).
He has made significant contributions to scientific publishing, serving as a reviewer for a wide range of international medical journals, including BURNS, Journal of Personalized Medicine, Frontiers in Surgery, Journal of Clinical Medicine, BMJ Quality and Safety, PLOS ONE, and many others, actively engaging in peer review from 2016 to the present.
In addition, Dr. Christian Smolle has been involved in the organization of academic events, serving as a member of the organizing committee for the International Student Congress in both 2015 and 2016. These roles highlight a strong commitment to professional development and academic leadership in the field of medicine.
