Dr. Baton Kelmendi has a distinguished career in the field of medicine, specializing in pediatric surgery. He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Prishtina in 2004. In 2011, Dr. Kelmendi completed his specialization in Pediatric Surgery.
His international experience includes training and professional residencies at several prestigious hospitals. In 2007, he spent three months at the Pediatric Surgery Clinic “Ospedale Infantile Regina Margherita Santa Anna” in Turin, Italy. In 2009, he spent six months at the “Mother Teresa” Hospital Center in Tirana, Albania. Additionally, in 2015, he completed a training program in laparoscopic surgery at “Osmangazi University” in Eskisehir, Turkey.
In March 2021, Dr. Baton Kelmendi defended his doctoral thesis at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Medical Sciences in Tirana, earning the title “Doctor of Science.” Later that year, in December, he successfully passed the exam organized by the American College of Surgeons for ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support) at Acibadem University in Turkey, with a recommendation to serve as an instructor. In April 2024, he is set to complete his training to become an ATLS instructor at the American College of Surgeons in Patras, Greece.
Professional Experience
From 2005 to 2011, he was a resident in Pediatric Surgery at QKUK (University Clinical Center of Kosovo).
Since 2012, he has been employed as a specialist in pediatric surgery at the Children’s Surgery Clinic at QKUK.
In the academic year 2014/15, he served as an assistant in Surgery, First Aid, and Emergency Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Prishtina.
In 2019, he participated in a humanitarian mission with the organization Kind Cuts for Kids in the Republic of South Africa, where he performed 18 complex surgical interventions at the Childrenâs Red Cross Hospital in Cape Town.
