Emir Haxhija, MD, PhD, FEBPS

Emir Q. Haxhija, MD, PhD, FEBPS, has graduated from the Medical School of the Karl-Franzens-University in Graz, and completed his training in Pediatric Surgery under Prof. M. Höllwarth at the Medical University Graz, Austria. In 2001, he has been a visiting clinical fellow under Prof. S. Adzick at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, USA. He completed his postgraduate training in Surgery with Prof. D. Teitelbaum in 2005 at the C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor, USA. Since 2008, he is a Fellow of the European Bord of Pediatric Surgery, and holds since 2009 the academic position of the Associate Professor of Pediatric and Adolescent Surgery at the Medical University Graz, Austria. Prof. Haxhija is board certified for Pediatric and Adolescent Surgery (since 2005), and Pediatric Intensive Care Medicine (since 2008). He has received many research prizes including the Novartis Prize and the ESPGHAN Award. He has been a Visiting Professor and invited Guest Surgeon in many countries, has given numerous keynote lectures, and has served as instructor and expert surgeon on specific courses in the fields of newborn surgery, minimal invasive surgery, pediatric trauma, pediatric plastic and reconstructive surgery, pediatric abdominal surgery, and pediatric thoracic surgery. He serves actively in many Medical Associations.
