History of the “Prof. Dr. Sami Haxhibeqiri” Lifetime Achievement Award
The award is named after one of the most distinguished figures in Albanian medicine. In general, the successes of medicine in Mitrovica and Kosova, particularly in the field of surgery, are closely associated with his name. He was among the founders and the first Albanian instructors at the Secondary Medical School in Mitrovica, from the establishment of the classes taught in the Albanian language. The development of mid-level and senior medical staff is a direct result of his dedication and professional work.

This award is presented to honor the outstanding contribution of certain individuals to the advancement of science, medical practice, and surgery in Kosova.
The award is not given posthumously and is awarded to the oldest nominee among all candidates.
