Prof. Dr. Aylin Ardagil

Prof. Dr. Aylin Ardagil, born in Bulgaria in 1974, is a renowned specialist in the field of Ophthalmology and currently works at DĂŒnyagöz Hospital, Istanbul. She is proficient in Turkish, English, Russian, and Bulgarian.

Aylin Ardagil completed her medical studies at Hacettepe Medical School between 1993 and 1999 and subsequently finished her residency at the Ophthalmology Clinic of Göztepe Training and Research Hospital from 2000 to 2004. She served as an Associate Professor at Medeniyet University, Ophthalmology Clinic at Göztepe Training and Research Hospital, from 2012 to 2017, and as the Head of the Ophthalmology Clinic at the same institution from 2014 to 2016. Since 2024, she has been a Professor at Gedik University.

Prof. Dr. Ardagil led the vitreoretinal surgery department at the Ophthalmology Clinic of Medeniyet University from 2010 to 2017 and has been working in the vitreoretinal surgery department at DĂŒnyagöz Hospital since 2017. She specializes in vitreoretinal and medical retina surgery, cataract surgery, ocular trauma, and the treatment of Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP).

Throughout her surgical career, she has performed 17,000 cataract surgeries and 8,500 vitreoretinal surgeries. She is a member of the Turkish Medical Association, the Turkish Ophthalmology Association, the Ophthalmology Association of Turkic Republics, and the Vitreoretinal Surgery Unit of the Turkish Ophthalmology Association.

She has received several awards, including first place for Best Poster at the European Neuro-Ophthalmology Society (EUNOS) Congress in 2007, second place for Best Medical Photograph at the 2007 National Congress of the Turkish Ophthalmology Association, and first place for Best Scientific Paper at Medeniyet University in 2012. She also holds a certificate for the treatment of retinopathy of prematurity from Zekai Tahir Burak Pediatric Hospital (2012).

Prof. Dr. Ardagil has published over 20 articles in internationally indexed journals and has participated in numerous international and national presentations and congresses. She has also contributed to book chapters on major eye diseases and has presented on ocular trauma, vitreoretinal surgery, and the management of macular complications.

Her areas of expertise include vitreoretinal surgery, cataracts, ocular trauma, and retinopathy of prematurity, and she is internationally recognized as a leading authority in the treatment of retinal diseases and complex eye surgery.
