Prof. Dr. Burbuqe Bruqi, the anesthesiologist and intensive care specialist has an outstanding career spanning over 40 years in the field of medicine, making her one of the most respected professionals in Kosovo. She graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Pristina in 1982, and later completed her specialization in Anesthesiology and Resuscitation at the Clinical Hospital Center Rebro in Zagreb, Croatia, successfully finishing in 1991.
Throughout her career, she has made significant contributions to the development of medicine in Kosovo, serving at the Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Clinic of the University Clinical Center of Kosovo (QKUK) for over three decades. In addition to her clinical service, she has participated in numerous national and international congresses and symposiums, and has published a considerable number of scientific papers, making her a notable contributor in her field.
Her professional experience is also enriched by her dedication to educating future generations of doctors, as she served as an assistant in the Department of Surgery at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Pristina, for 16 years. Since 2016, she has been practicing at the “Royal Medical” Hospital in Pristina, continuing to provide high-level medical care in anesthesiology and intensive care.
For her unwavering dedication and contributions, she has been honored with several important recognitions and awards, including the Gratitude Award from the Municipality of Skenderaj for her contribution to the military hospital of the Drenica Operational Zone during the war. In 2020, she was decorated by the President of the Republic of Kosovo with the Order of the Freedom Fighter – Adem Jashari. Additionally, she has been recognized by the Kosovo Association of Anesthesiologists and the Kosovo Chamber of Doctors for her irreplaceable role in the development of health services in the country.
The doctor is fluent in Albanian, Croatian, and English, allowing her to engage in international communication and medical collaborations abroad. For her contributions during the war in Kosovo, she also holds the certificate of a Veteran Fighter of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA).
Her long and distinguished career in medicine makes her a highly respected and honored figure in the medical community, both in Kosovo and beyond.
