Prof.Dr. Nusret Pllana

Prof. Dr. Nusret Pllana completed his primary education in his hometown and later graduated from high school and the Faculty of Economics in Pristina. For a long time, he was involved in cultural and artistic activities. In 1984, he founded the “Hasan Prishtina” Artistic Ensemble in Pristina, which he led until 1996. While pursuing postgraduate studies in economics in Zagreb, he was imprisoned in 1986 upon his return to Kosovo for illegal patriotic activities and sentenced to six years in prison, serving five. After his release, he founded the private carpet production company “Teuta” in Pristina. In 1994, he was imprisoned again, this time as a member of the Governing Council of the Kosovo Chamber of Commerce. He was a participant in the Kosovo Liberation Army’s war and the first announcer for Radio “Kosova e LirĂ«.”

After the war, he served as the editor-in-chief of Radio “Kosova e LirĂ«.” Prof. Dr. Nusret Pllana was the Deputy Minister and Minister of Culture in the Provisional Government of Kosovo from 1999 to 2000. He also led the UÇK Archive Sector from 2002 to 2006.

He currently lectures at the University of Prishtina “Hasan Prishtina” and the State University of Tetova in Skopje and Tetova. He earned his Master’s degree in Tirana in 2005 with a thesis on “Serbian Massacres in Kosovo 1989-1997.” In 2009, he obtained his PhD from the South East European University in Tetova with the topic “NATO’s Intervention in Kosovo” in the Department of Political Science and Public Administration. In 2011, his book NATO Intervention in Kosova was published in English, with reviews by U.S. Ambassador William G. Walker, Prof. Dr. Christopher G.L. Hall, and Prof. Julia Norrgard.

His book The Terror of Invading Serbia over Albanians 1844-1999, translated into eight languages, and The Terror of Serbian Occupation over Albanians 1844-1999 have been included in renowned European and global libraries, such as the World Library of the U.S. Congress, the Victoria State Library of Australia, the United Nations headquarters, the Bavarian State Library in Germany, the German Bundeswehr Military Academy, The Hague Tribunal, and the British Library in London.
