Prof. Dr. Violeta Zatriqi is one of the pioneers of Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgery in Kosovo. She has had a long and distinguished career in the field of medicine, with extensive experience in surgery and leadership in medical clinics.
After completing her studies at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Prishtina, she specialized in Plastic Surgery at the same university. With the aim of advancing further in the field, she completed her postgraduate studies (Master’s) at the University of Prishtina and earned her PhD at the University of Medicine in Tirana. This advanced education equipped her with the knowledge and skills to make significant contributions to plastic surgery in Kosovo.
Dr. Zatriqi served as the President of the Association of Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgeons of Kosovo (SH.K.P.R.E.K.) from 2002 to 2022, playing a crucial role in organizing international symposia and congresses. As the head of the Department of Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgery in Prishtina, and later as the Director of the Department of Plastic Surgery at the University Clinical Center of Kosovo (QKUK), she contributed to the development and enhancement of medical services in the country. She is the first surgeon who, after 25 years, began performing aesthetic reconstruction surgeries for women who had remained untreated since the post-war period. Dr. Zatriqi has made significant contributions to academia, serving as a professor at the Medical College “Rezonanca” since 2018.
In addition to her career in public institutions, she has led and worked at the “Zatriqi Polyclinic” for 25 years, which has been a key center for plastic and aesthetic surgery in Kosovo. Dr. Zatriqi is also the founder of the College of Surgeons of Kosovo and a board member. She has mentored and led the training of residents in Plastic Surgery, shaping the next generation of surgeons in the country.
In the field of scientific research, she is the author and co-author of numerous publications, which have been influential at both national and international levels. She is also the initiator and visionary behind the project to establish a burn center in Kosovo, a critical project for improving care for burn patients.
Dr. Zatriqi is an internationally recognized figure and a member of several prestigious organizations, including the Kosovo Medical Association, the Kosovo Surgeons Association, the Mediterranean Council for Burns and Fire Disasters (MBC), and the European Burn Association (EBA).
With a deep commitment to patient care and the development of plastic surgery in Kosovo, Prof. Ass. Dr. Violeta Zatriqi continues to play a key role in both the medical and academic fields. She speaks several languages, including English, Turkish, and Serbo-Croatian.
