Vedat Eljezi

Prof. Ass. Dr. Vedat Eljezi is an experienced anesthesiologist and intensivist, currently serving as a full-time hospital practitioner in the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery at CHU Clermont-Ferrand – Gabriel Montpied Hospital in France. Since 2021, he has also been an Associate Professor (part-time) at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Clermont Auvergne.

Born on June 7, 1974, Dr. Eljezi is a French national and is registered with the French Medical Council. He has extensive clinical expertise in cardiovascular and general intensive care, anesthesia for cardiovascular surgery and interventional cardiology, preoperative consultations, as well as on-call general and obstetric anesthesia and ICU care.

Clinically, Dr. Eljezi is involved in the management of patients with pulmonary hypertension and in the design of institutional protocols for postoperative analgesia, perioperative blood conservation, anticoagulant and antiplatelet therapy, and regional anesthesia in cardiac surgery. His previous roles include contractual and associate hospital practitioner posts at CHU Clermont-Ferrand, and residency training at the university hospitals of Clermont-Ferrand, Grenoble, Montpellier (France) and Pristina (Kosovo).

In education, Prof. Eljezi is active in training medical residents (third cycle in anesthesia and intensive care), delivering lectures for fifth-year medical students, and teaching at the Nurse Anesthetist and Midwifery Schools at CHU Clermont-Ferrand. He also provides postgraduate instruction in tobacco and anesthesia (Inter-University Diploma in Tobaccoology) and pain medicine.

His academic background includes a PhD in Clinical Pharmacology from the University of Clermont Auvergne (2017), with a thesis on postoperative pain control after cardiac surgery. He earned the title of Associate Professor from the French National Council of Universities in 2021 and holds the European Diploma in Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care (ESA). He is also a certified Specialist in Anesthesia and Intensive Care from the University of Pristina and completed his MD at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Tirana.

Dr. Eljezi has obtained several additional university diplomas, including Doppler Echocardiography, Hypnosis and Acute Pain, and Anti-Infective Therapy.

In research, Dr. Eljezi is an active author of numerous international scientific publications in prestigious journals, contributing on topics such as post-cardiac surgery pain management, local anesthetic use, and prevention of postoperative delirium. He has served as Principal Investigator on several sponsored clinical studies, including research on point-of-care regional anesthesia in ICUs and bilateral sternal ropivacaine infusion after sternotomy.

He has supervised numerous MD theses on topics including regional block techniques, perioperative infections, and neuropathic pain management. He has delivered invited lectures at national and international congresses on subjects such as pulmonary embolism management, ECMO indications, perioperative myocardial infarction, and postoperative pain after cardiac surgery.

Prof. Eljezi is a member of scientific societies such as the SociĂ©tĂ© Française d’AnesthĂ©sie RĂ©animation (SFAR) and the European Society of Anaesthesiology (ESA). He is also a peer reviewer for international scientific journals. Additionally, he is actively involved in remote teaching, delivering regular online classes to anesthesia residents at the University of Tirana (Albania) and University of Pristina (Kosovo).
