Alan Biloslavo, MD, FACS

Alan Biloslavo, MD, FACS, graduated at the University of Trieste, Italy, Dr. Alan Biloslavo is the Head of the Emergency Surgery Unit of the General Surgery Department of Cattinara University Hospital in Trieste (Italy). From 2022, he is a Lecturer for the Residency School of General Surgery at the Department of Medical, Surgical, and Healthcare Sciences at the University of Trieste.

He is a member of the board of the Italian Society of Emergency Surgery and Trauma (SICUT) and he will be the president of the 2025 SICUT annual clinical congress that will be held next October in Trieste. He was also a former committee member of the ESTES Visceral Trauma Section and at present, a member of the Committee of the ESTES Emergency Surgery Section. As member of the Italian Society of Surgery he is part of the steering group of the “Italian School of Emergency and Trauma Surgery”.

Fellow of the American College of Surgeons from 2015, Dr. Alan Biloslavo is a member of other international Surgical Scientific Societies like the European Association for Endoscopic Surgery (EAES) and the International Association for Trauma Surgery and Intensive Care (IATSIC).

He is also involved in educational activities as an instructor: Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), Modular Ultrasound ESTES Course (MUSEC), Definitive Surgery Trauma Care (DSTC), Emergency Surgery Course (ESC) and National Laparoscopic Basic Skill courses.

He is the author or co-author of more than 50 scientific articles published by international surgical journals and several book chapters in the field of emergency surgery.

His main focus regards Acute Care Surgery and Trauma with a specific interest in critical and septic patients. He is also particularly involved in the spread of the use of clinical and interventional ultrasound in emergency settings and in Surgical Critical Care culture.
