Interview with Dr. Ali Devaja
Regular member of the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Ali Devaja, and a surgeon from Kosova, says that the greatest honor in his professional career is being part of this College, which represents the highest level of education. For the importance and benefits of being a member of the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Devaja says that this serves as a liaison in the communication of scientific information, to and from the societies of the world of surgery.
General and abdominal surgeon from Kosova, Dr. Ali Devaja was the only surgeon from Kosova who joined this institution last year, among many other surgeons from different countries of the world.
He added that he feels proud to have become a ‘Fellow’ of the American College of Surgeons #ACSCC22, during the Ceremony held last year in San Diego, California, in the United States of America.
Being a member of the American College of Surgeons (ACS) – “FACS”, according to him, “is the highest honor of my professional career, but also with a great historical weight, representing Kosova for the first time in a way equal to all other countries. “FACS” credentials represent the highest level of education, expertise and excellence in scientific professionalism worldwide.”
At the same time, he sincerely thanked the former President, Prof. Julie A. Freischlag for the extraordinary dedication and support she has offered to recognize Kosova, among all other countries at a professional surgical level.
Moreover, Dr. Devaja emphasized that the most important acknowledgment goes to current ACS President E. Christopher Ellison, for encouraging and expanding the ACS program for the coming year. #unitedsurgeons
Also, his most heartfelt thanks goes to all #ACS staff, especially #compusystems for countless efforts to rank Kosova among all other countries, within the ACS IT system since it did not exist until now.
Also, Dr. Devaja talks about the importance and benefits of being a member of the American College of Surgeons. For this he says that this serves as a liaison in the communication of scientific information, with and from the societies of the world of surgery.

Meanwhile, he has advice and a message for young doctors who aim to be successful in their profession. His advice for young doctors would be based on 4 main pillars, such as professionalism, honesty, confidentiality and altruism.
These four virtuous pillars, according to him, pave the way for further advancement in the professional medical field.
Dr. Ali Devaja also advises young doctors: “Provide the highest quality surgical care, participate in lifelong learning, either with personal or collective commitment. Respect the knowledge, dignity and perspective of other health care professionals. Knowing that our profession is also responsible to our communities and to society, therefore work with society to create a fair, effective and efficient distribution of health care resources, only in this way will you achieve your complete goals as medical professionals “.
