Dr Vishwajit Verma, MBBS, MD, FRCA (Lon), FFICM

Dr. Vishwajit Verma, MBBS, MD, FRCA (Lon), FFICM,  is a senior consultant in the trauma intensive care unit and lead clinician for neurocritical care at Hamad General Hospital. After completing his basic medical training in India, he moved to the United Kingdom. He completed his specialist training in intensive care medicine in 2003. He completed a neurocritical care fellowship at Cambridge University Hospital in Cambridge, UK. Dr. Verma was appointed as a consultant in adult critical care medicine at Royal London Hospital in 2005. Royal London is one of the oldest teaching hospitals and a large Level 1 trauma center in east London. In 2007 he was also appointed as a Hon senior lecturer at the Queen Mary University of London in the center of neuro and trauma sciences.  Dr. Verma joined the trauma surgery department at Hamad General Hospital in Doha in 2018. He currently leads the provision of neurocritical care in state of art trauma intensive care unit in the hospital. Dr. Verma’s main area of clinical and research interest is the treatment and prognostication of patients with head injuries. He has been a principal investigator for various reputed national and international trials exploring traumatic brain injury.  He has co-authored national guidelines for targeted temperature management in brain injury. In 2014 he served as a specialist member of the quality standards and advisory committee of the National Institute of clinical excellence, UK, and co-authored national quality standards for Traumatic brain injury.
