Mission:

The mission of the Committee for Women Specialists in Surgery is to enable women surgeons of all ages and practice types to develop their individual potential as professionals; promote an environment that fosters inclusion, respect and success; to develop, encourage and advance women surgeons as leaders; and provide a forum and networking opportunity to enhance women’s satisfaction in surgical careers.
Through this Committee, specialist women and girls will strengthen their important role in the surgical care of patients;
– The best forms will be sought and found so that women are well represented in the professions of surgery, as well as in institutional and academic leadership;
– Work will also be done to write the history of women in surgery, as well as to regularly promote the achievements of women in the profession and science;
It will also focus on the well-being of women, as well as be a strong voice against discrimination, harassment and bullying in the workplace, in KCS and in society in general.

Activities:

Creation of a good and safe work atmosphere, through having basically the proper respect for everyone, leads directly to the fulfillment of one of the main objectives of the Kosova College of Surgeons, which is to improve the care of the surgical patient and the advancement of ethical practice of surgery.

For this purpose, the leadership of the Kosova College of Surgeons has approved the proposal of the Committee of Women Surgeons of the KCS for the adoption of the Statement on Harassment, Bullying, and Discrimination, which is adapted from the same statement of the American College of Surgeons.
