Dr. Bekim Tateshi

Dr. Bekim Tateshi was born on September 13, 1969, in Struga. He completed his primary education at the SHF “VĂ«llezĂ«rit Milladinovci” in his hometown and pursued his secondary education, majoring in biology, at the QAMO “Hajdar Dushi” in GjakovĂ«. His medical studies took place at the University of Zagreb in Croatia.

Following the completion of his internship and state exam, Dr. Tateshi joined the Nephrology Institute in Struga, working in the department specializing in chronic hemodialysis. In 2002, he embarked on a specialization program in ophthalmology at the University Eye Clinic in Skopje, which he successfully concluded in 2007.

Since 2003, Dr. Tateshi has been a part of the University Eye Clinic in Skopje, specifically in the department of pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus. In 2008, he received the appointment of Assistant in the department of ophthalmology at the Faculty of Medicine in Skopje.

Dr. Tateshi holds the role of national coordinator for Retinopathy of Prematurity, as designated by the Ministry of Health. Since 2009, he has effectively led the screening efforts for Retinopathy of Prematurity and administered laser photocoagulation operations and anti-VEGF treatments for at-risk infants. He possesses expertise in the areas of strabismus surgery, phacosurgery, and eye echography.

In 2016, Dr. Tateshi successfully defended his doctoral dissertation titled “Retinopathy of Prematurity – Screening and Contemporary Therapy,” earning the esteemed title of Doctor of Medical Sciences. He actively participates in numerous national and international congresses, seminars, and workshops.

In recognition of his accomplishments, the Educational-Scientific Council of the Faculty of Medical Sciences at Goce Delchev University in Shtip awarded Dr. Tateshi the title of Docent in the field of Ophthalmology in 2021.

Dr. Tateshi is fluent in Albanian, English, Macedonian, Croatian, and Turkish, both in spoken and written forms.
