Prof. Bora Eldem, M.D., FEBO

Prof. Bora Eldem, M.D., FEBO, graduated from Hacettepe University Medical School in 1979 where he completed a medical residency program at the Ophthalmology Department in 1983. He became an associate professor in 1990 and a full professor in 1996. He is an Examiner and Fellow of the European Board of Ophthalmology (FEBO).

He completed his fellowship at Moorfields Eye Hospital, Retinal Diagnostic Department in London.

A Professor in Ophthalmology, Prof. Eldem, M.D., FEBO, is the Chair of Hacettepe University Ophthalmology Department in Ankara-TURKEY, Chair of the Surgical Medicine Sciences Section, and the Retina Unit in the same University. He is also serving as the President of the Hacettepe Science Foundation.

Within his field of specialty,  his main field of interest includes the diagnosis as well as medical and surgical treatments of vitreo-retinal disorders, uveitis, and Behcet’s disease. Prof. Eldem is a member of several International Societies such as ARVO, ASRS, EVRS, and EURETINA. He was the Past President of the Turkish Ophthalmological Society and a Board Member of MEACO. He has served as  Country Delegate to the International Council of Ophthalmology (ICO),Union of European Medical Specialists (UEMS), and European Board of Ophthalmology (EBO). He is also the country coordinator and Principal Investigator of different Randomised Controlled Trials (RCT) related to AMD, DME, and RVO and a member of the Steering Committee of Vision Academy and a member of Real World Evidence Steering Committee. Prof. Eldem is also taking place in the Advisory Boards of most of the International Pharmaceuticals related to retinal disorders and is a key opinion leader in the field of retina.
