Prof. Dr. Emine Gashi

Prof. Dr. Emine Gashi was born in 1940 in Prizren. She completed primary and secondary school in her hometown. She graduated from the Faculty of Medicine in Sarajevo in 1963. Two years later she started specializing in Gynecology and Obstetrics in Prizren and Gjilan and finished it in 1969 in Belgrade. In 1979, at the Faculty of Medicine in Pristina, she defended her doctoral thesis with the title: “Etiological factors of uterine rupture during pregnancy and childbirth – the development of women’s health protection in the KSA of Kosova during the last ten years”

After graduation, she returned to her hometown and was employed as a doctor at the General Hospital in Prizren. Then she was employed in the gynecology department at the General Hospital of Gjilan until 1971. In the same year, she was selected as an assistant in the subject of Gynecology and Obstetrics at the Faculty of Medicine, Prishtina, and began working at the Obstetrics-Gynecology Clinic in Pristina. In 1974, she was appointed Chief of the Obstetrics Department of this Clinic, where she worked until August 2000. In 1980, she was elected a docent, and after a few years, she was appointed associate professor for the subject of gynecology and obstetrics at the Faculty of Medicine in Pristina.

During the years 1983-1984, she stayed in North Carolina in the USA for professional improvement. After the end of the war, in 1999 she returned to the Obstetrics-Gynecology Clinic in Pristina and continued her work as Chief of the ward-delivery room until 2000 when at the age of 60 she was forced to retire. She has participated in several congresses and symposiums and has published 13 scientific papers as an author and co-author. For distinguished activities in the professional aspect, she has been awarded many times with praises, recognition, diplomas, rewards, and decorations.
