Prof. Dr. med. habil. Michael Pfeiffer completed medical school and training in Orthopaedics and Traumatology at the Philipps- University Marburg, Germany. He is currently Head of the Department of Spine Surgery at the Lörrach District Hospital. His clinical interests include dynamic spine stabilization, advancing technologies for spinal fusion, risk management, and pain therapy, whereas his research interests include measurement of spinal instability, comorbidity of spinal stenosis and polyneuropathy, effects of implants on posture and spinal profile, standardized assessment of patientâs satisfaction.
Prof. Pfeiffer has over 350 scientific presentations focusing on the spine (fusion and non-fusion), alloarthroplasty, navigation, nucleus replacement, avascular necrosis, pain, etc. He also has foreign cooperations with the University of Pretoria, South Africa; University of Virginia, Charlottesville, VA; Dartmouth College, Hanover, NH, and domestic cooperations with numerous academic, private, and public institutions.
He is a member of different organizations and journalsâ reviewer boards, such as Member of the Reviewersâ Board of âEuropian Spine Journalâ, of the Advisory Board of âSpineâ (reviewer). Heâs also a member of the Editorial Board of the âEuropean Spine Journalâ.
