Prof. Dr. Muhamed Guguli

Prof. Dr. Muhamed Guguli was born in Prizren in 1932. He completed primary school in his hometown and secondary school of Medicine in Zagreb, Croatia. He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine in Skopje in 1961. After graduation, he was employed at Prizren Hospital and started specializing in General Surgery. He spent the first two years at the Prizren Hospital and the other two at the Military Medical Academy in Belgrade, where he completed his Specialization. He defended his doctoral thesis with the title “Echinococcosis of the lungs during the last 10 years in Kosova and methods of surgical intervention” at the Faculty of Medicine, Pristina.

In 1969, he was elected Chief of the Surgery Department at Prizren Hospital. With the opening of the Faculty of Medicine in Pristina, he was elected Assistant of the Surgery subject and began working in the Thoracic Surgery department in 1976. In 1982, he was elected Docent of the subject, while in 1987 he received the title of Associate Professor of the General Surgery subject. After being forced out of work, he continued working in his private practice until 1999, when he returned to his workplace and worked until 2002 when he retired.

He has participated in many congresses and seminars, publishing 58 scientific papers as author and co-author and a monograph entitled “Bronchological examination and surgical treatment of bronchiectasis”.

He passed away on September 21, 2015, in Prizren.
