Prof. Dr. Samedin Haxhijaha

Prof. Dr. Samedin Haxhijaha was born on January 1, 1946, in Rahovec. After completing elementary school in his hometown with outstanding success, he also completed high school in Prizren with the same victory. During the school year 1966-1967, he enrolled in the Faculty of Medicine in Skopje, which he completed on February 29, 1972. Six years later, on September 18, 1978, Dr. Haxijaha completed his Specialization in General Surgery at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Zagreb, Croatia. While a year later, he completes his post-graduate studies in the field of Gastroenterology with Hepatology. In 1999, he completed his doctorate in Pristina with the topic: “Subsequent results of the surgical treatment of duodenal ulcer with selective proximal vagotomy in clinical materials in Krakow and Zagreb”

He completed his student internship at the Neurosurgery Clinic of the University of Warsaw in 1970. Since 1978, for many years, he has been the First Chair of General Surgery and Gastroenterological Surgery at the Jagiellonian University in Kharkiv, Poland, where he has gained knowledge in the field of diagnostics and endoscopic treatment of diseases of the digestive tract. He worked in the Surgery Clinic of the Hospital of Pristina from March 1, 1972, and for a long time, he worked as the Head of the reception service and specialist ambulances, while in 1979 he was appointed an Assistant in the Department of Surgery of the Faculty of Medicine in Pristina. After his training in many eminent centers in Croatia and Poland, in cooperation with his colleagues from the endoscopy service of the respiratory tract and urology, he founded the Service for Diagnostics and Endoscopic Therapy of the Digestive Tract of the Clinic of Surgery in Pristina.

Furthermore, Dr. Haxijaha has been the author and co-author of a large number of scientific works in the country and in the world and he has inaugurated two original methods in surgery for the treatment of unguis incarnates halluces and atheroma. He practiced his profession as a Professor of Surgery at the Faculty of Medicine in Pristina and as an advisor to the Minister of Health at that time (Prof. Dr. Ferid Agani). Leaving behind a ton of success, Haxijaha, passed away on January 29, 2017, in Pristina.
