Ümit Ekşioğlu MD, Ph.D.

Ümit Ekşioğlu MD, Ph.D., was born in 1966 in Ankara, Turkey. He graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 1990. He served as a general practitioner for two years at the Mother and Child Health Center. He completed his ophthalmology residency training in the Ankara Training and Research Hospital Ophthalmology Department between 1994-1997. In 2001, he completed his Ph.D. in the Physiology Department of Gazi University Faculty of Medicine. Between 2003-2004, he worked as Visiting Scholar at the Department of Ophthalmology, Glaucoma Unit of the Washington University School of Medicine.
He is currently in charge of the Glaucoma Unit of the Baskent University Faculty of Medicine, Ophthalmology Department. He is an active member of the Turkish Ophthalmological Association (TOA) Glaucoma unit and Ocular Traumatology and Medicolegal Ophthalmology.
In 2017 he was elected as a member of the administrative board of the TOA and is still the executive board member of the TOA Glaucoma Society.
